My Journey as a Dietitian
Hello! I’m Melissa Koch, a Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist with more than 15 years of experience in nutrition counselling. Bloom Nutrition Services was born out of my love for supporting clients through the reproductive years, a transformative stage of life where nutrition and wellness can be truly empowering and should be enjoyed.
As a competitive synchronized skater from childhood into adulthood, I developed a deep appreciation for how food fuels performance and energy. That passion led me to pursue a career in dietetics.
My dietetic career has been dedicated to supporting many diverse clients and families through programs at Toronto Public Health that focused on reproductive health and nutrition.
Driven by a love of learning, I later returned to the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, expanding my skills in adult education. This experience helped me better understand how adults learn and grow.
A Personal Journey with Food, Fertility & Family
Like many of the people I support, I’ve had my own nutrition journey. I navigated fertility and hormonal challenges, experienced gestational diabetes in all of my pregnancies, and now raise three active children.
These experiences gave me a new perspective: I’ve sat across from a dietitian as a client. I understand how complex, emotional, and overwhelming food choices can feel, especially during changing seasons like pre-conception, pregnancy, postpartum, or parenting.
My Approach
I take a holistic, non-judgmental, client-centred, inclusive approach to provide you with evidence-based nutritional care.
That means I honour your lived experience, respect your autonomy, and work collaboratively with you to make informed, flexible choices that support your unique health needs and goals.
Helping others feel confident and at ease in their nutrition journey brings me so much joy and I hope we’ll have the chance to work together too.
Melissa Koch, RD
